Cameroon is leading a #BringBackOurGirls Campaign

IMG_1257A #BringBackOurGirls campaign and manifestation take place in Yaounde-Cameroon on 16th May 2014. Lead by the Civil Society Advisory Group of the UN Women Cameroon, this advocacy manifestation talks about the rights of the Nigerian girls kidnapped by Boko Haram militants in Northern Nigeria. Women and Girls being part of this campaign demand the immediate and unconditional release of the girls. Listen to the podcast of their declaration (English and French).

After the declaration, women and girls signed a petition and gave it to the Nigerian Ambassador to Cameroon, Hadiza Mustapha. However the #BringBackOurGirls campaign by Cameroonians is more visible in social media and website.

Blog Post Contest 2014: applications closed on 30th April

International Girls in ICT Day 2014

GirlsinICTDay2014SmallThe International Girls in ICT Day 2014 is celebrated today 24th April 2014. Almost 2700 events in 121 countries have taken place empowering over 70, 000 girls and young women globally. It is an opportunity for girls and young women to get an insight into ICT sector to consider ICT careers through open days at ICT institutions, meeting women role models, and even getting “hands on” experience in technology.

Note that the Member States of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) agreed in 2010 to celebrate the International Girls in ICT Day on the 4th Thursday of April, every year.
