Concours de blog post sur la liberté de la presse en ligne

Contexte

blog1La journée mondiale de la liberté de la presse du 03 mai 2014 se célèbre sous le thème «La liberté des medias pour un avenir meilleur : contribuer à l’agenda de développement post-2015 ». A cette occasion, le blog de Dorothydaf (www.dorotheedanedjo.com) organise du 15 au 30 avril 2014, un Blog Post Contest autour de la question de la liberté de la presse en ligne. Il s’agit pour tous les participants du monde entier de publier pendant cette période un post de 2000 caractères maximum, un podcast audio ou video de 6mn maximum sur la problématique de la liberté de la presse en ligne. Le résultat de ce concours sera communiqué en ligne le 03 mai 2014.

 

Idée d’orientation du post 

–        BLOG 3 Comment la liberté de la presse en ligne se vit dans votre pays ?

–         Quelles sont les textes réglementaires en matière de presse en ligne en vigueur dans votre pays ?

–         Que proposez-vous en matière d’innovation pour améliorer la liberté de la presse en ligne dans le monde ?

–         Quelles sont les limites/freins à la liberté de la presse en ligne ?

–         La montée des abus/infractions de presse liée à la libéralisation/liberté de la presse en ligne ;

–          …

 

Conditions 

–         how-to-blogJustifier de l’existence de son blog depuis 6 mois

–         Publier UN seul article en Anglais ou en Français sur le thème du concours sur son blog pendant la période du 15 au 30 avril 2014 (23h59 GMT)

–          Renvoyer par mail en fichier word, mp3,mp4, JPG, (lien de l’article, mini bio de 300 mots+nationalité+photos du blogueur compris) à l’adresse contact@dorotheedanedjo.com

–         Suivre le blog de Dorothydaf sur sa page Facebook et sur Twitter (@dorothydaf)

NB: Ne seront pas considérés comme blog post des articles publiés sur une page de réseau social (Exemple : page Facebook ou espace d’articles sur les réseaux sociaux), ou encore des articles publiés dans un journal en ligne.

 

Critères de sélection des 3 meilleurs posts

–        blog2 Adéquation du style  d’écriture avec le public cible ;

–         Sens de l’innovation ;

–         Interactions du post  sur les médias sociaux après publication sur www.dorotheedanedjo.com  ;

–         Capacité d’intégration des ressources numériques extérieures au post (liens vers des références vérifiables).

Data investigation: violence against gender in Cameroon and Brazil

Few days ago, the first edition of the monthly event called “Cafe-genre” was held at UN Women Cameroon. The topic of the debate: the issue of gender-based violences: case of Cameroon and Brazil. It appears that the two countries seem to be similar regards to this problem. 3 groups of violence based on gender are identified: physical, moral and economic. The most recurrent are on this document:


Data collection on violence against women is presented by the picture below:

To solve this social problem , the two countries have established appropriate ways out of crisis according to their context. In Cameroon, for example, the plan put in place to combat such violence against women is at the same time preventive, protective and repressive.

In Brazil, the strategies developed along the same lines as those implemented in Cameroon. However, we observe that experienced operations are more oriented towards the needs of victims: Police station for women, Credit line for women, economic programms for helping women in majority (Brasil sem miseria, Bolsa Familia), Professional Training programm for Women, Maria da Penha law for repression of violence against women…

It should be noted that during the development of diagnosis of the two countries in the field of gender violence, statistics and data on women are more accessible. Officials do not comment exactly the information about violence against men. However, they say that « there are many men who are victims of violence due to women » and that women « certainly suffer violence but they are also cause of this violence » especially in schools. By searching online data on violence against men, a study published in 2008 by the CRED (Centre for Research on the Rights and Duties of the Human Person), a Cameroonian NGO, found that men are also victims. .

The gender-based violence is a real problem of society where male consideration should also be taken into account in policy decisions making.

Data analysis course for journalists and researchers

data analysisJournalists, researchers and others with an interest in interpreting data may do the online course called « Make sense with data ». It is offer by Google. This program will help interested individuals to learn new and innovative approaches to organizing, analyzing and applying data. The schedule is: Topics of instruction include introducing the data process, using fusion tables and finding patterns and relationships. The course will be available from March 18 to April 4 with support from peers and Google content experts. Course participation is free, but requires a Google account. Knowledge of statistics is not required.

The African Story Challenge: call for business and Technology entries

logo african story challengeAfrican journalists will have the opportunity to tell detailed, multimedia stories that will help to deepen and broaden business and technology reporting on the continent. The journalists will have the chance to apply for a grant from the African Story Challenge, which is being run by the Africa Media Initiative in collaboration with the International Centre for Journalists. The programme involves a total grant pool of one million dollars, which will benefit a total of 100 journalists from all over the continent. The journalists will engage with new ways to tell their stories, to ensure that they can reach the widest audience possible. This current round of grants will benefit business and technology journalists. Past rounds of grants have gone to agriculture and food security, as well as health.
